You do have time in your adult life for braces.

Orthodontic treatment takes time - there's the time a person spends in braces and the time the person spends in the office getting adjustments. Adults, especially, seem to be more hesitant because of the time commitment - after all their schedules are often consumed by work, children and the day-to-day tasks of running a household.

Meet Jennifer Peth - an adult who lives three hours from our Wausau orthodontic office - who, in her words, "made a huge commitment" and was fitted for braces at the age of 31. She chose Dovorany Orthodontics because of "how friendly and encouraging the staff was at my consultation appointment, because of the location and because of SureSmile," she notes.

SureSmile is an advanced orthodontics program Dovorany Orthodontics offers that starts with a 3D scan of a patient's teeth. The patient's orthodontic care plan is then mapped into a computer program and the high-precision archwires are created by robots at SureSmile laboratories. The result is an orthodontic treatment plan that, on average, is 40 percent shorter than traditional orthodontic treatment, and one that requires less in-office visits, less adjustments and results in less discomfort. SureSmile was an excellent alternative for Jennifer, especially because she had to make a three-hour commute for adjustments.

Jennifer had crowding on the upper and lower arches of her mouth and required orthodontics not only to provide her with a smile she was proud of, but to reduce the wear on her teeth created by the crowding. After just 18 months, Jennifer's braces were removed.

"I'd always wanted to get my teeth fixed and I'm so thankful I did. Because I live so far away, it was a challenge to make all of my appointments, but I would do it all over again. I am very satisfied with my result.  Having healthy, straight, white teeth gives me the confidence to be more outgoing than I would be otherwise.  Before I had braces, I would always put my hand over my mouth because I was so self-conscious. Now, I never think about smiling - I just smile. I now have beautiful teeth and I am proud of it."

She concludes, "If someone I knew was considering adult orthodontics, I would tell them that it was the most rewarding thing I've ever done for myself. My smile means a lot to me and will help me look healthy and youthful for many years."

The Difference Nine Months Can Make

When Katie Gilles decided to get braces at the age of 35, the kid-friendly offices of Dovorany Orthodontics certainly had their appeal to this mother of two. So did the "friendly staff, timely appointments and the ease of scheduling and rescheduling appointments." All important to a busy mother and professional. And then there was the SureSmile option - that certainly appealed to Katie.

Katie was only in braces for nine months, thanks to the SureSmile technologies that Dovorany Orthodontics offers. SureSmile starts with a 3D scan of a patient's teeth. Dr. Dovorany maps the patient's orthodontic care plan into a computer program and then robots create the precision archwires based on this plan. The result is an orthodontic treatment plan that, on average, is 40 percent shorter than traditional orthodontic treatment, and one that requires less in-office visits, less adjustments and results in less discomfort.

In just nine months, Dr. Dovorany was able to correct the front gap in Katie's teeth and, just as importantly, he was able to correct her bite in back. Prior to treatment, Katie's molars did not meet properly. If the condition had not been corrected, she would have continued to excessively wear the edges and cusps of her teeth in front and back. Eventually, her teeth would have worn down and she would have had to opt for crowns or veneers to try and correct the wear issue. This could have also led to problems with her jaw, including clicking or popping.

Now, just nine months later, she notes, "I have a more confident smile and healthier teeth. I had been putting braces off for many years and am so happy that I finally decided to go ahead and get them.  The process was so much easier than I had expected. Dovorany did a great job and I would highly recommend them to friends and family."

When your bite's not right

Something just wasn't right. Wanda Rindfleisch, felt she wasn't biting correctly, so she visited Dr. Dovorany. "I was curious about Invisalign, which Dr. Dovorany offered - I'm in my 30s and liked this invisible option." Indeed, Wanda's bottom teeth had shifted on her lower arch, crowding her teeth, making it hard for her to clean her teeth, exposing her to greater risk of cavities, and disrupting her bite.

Wanda also opted to use SureSmile - an advanced orthodontics program Dovorany Orthodontics offers that starts with a 3D scan of a patient's teeth. Her care plan was mapped into a computer program and her high-precision archwires were created by robots at SureSmile laboratories. The result? "I was only in braces for one year - to the day," notes Rindfleisch.

"I will forever recommend Dovorany Orthodontics. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Dr. Dovorany is down to earth and really cares about every patient," she adds. "And I was able to get the custom orthodontic options I wanted - clear braces on the upper, metal on the lower and custom-colored retainers."

Beyond her corrected bite, how does she feel? "I love my smile more and I get compliments all the time."

Correcting a bite in under two years

“As I got older, my teeth started to shift and turn,” states Cher Voigt. “I was self conscious — every time I smiled I worried about how goofy my teeth looked.” Cher’s dentist recommended Dovorany Orthodontics because she had crowding on her upper and lower arches. Her bite was also off considerably in the back of her mouth and causing exceptional wear on her teeth.

Cher opted for SureSmile treatment — an advanced orthodontics program Dovorany Orthodontics offers. First, Cher received a 3D scan of a her teeth. Her orthodontic plan was then mapped into a computer program and her high-precision archwires were created by robots at SureSmile laboratories. A case that would have traditionally taken more than two years to correct took just fifteen months. “I am more confident when I smile. And I really enjoyed working with the team at Dovorany — I’m even going to miss them now that my braces are off.”
